A short presentation can be part of a Lunch, an eveing event or an Away Day/Team Day. The presentations mentioned in the following can be adapted to a time-frame from 1/2-2 hour.

Improving Communication
in the Work Environment - Facilitation

Twenty years ago, few people had heard of or even used the words, "group facilitation" or "group processes". Ten years ago, the professional association, The International Association of Facilitators (IAF), was formed. Today, around the world, thousands of facilitators lead groups every day. In ten years, the skill set of any effective organizational leader will be team facilitation skills.

Most of the issues we face in today's businesses are so complex that teamwork is no more an option but a must. It is simply not possible for one person to solve today's challenges - one needs to be able to teamwork.

Working in teams is not always easy, facilitation can ease this process and help improve the communication.

The presentation will deal with 2 central questions:

  • What is good communication?
  • What can we do to improve communication?

Facilitation techniques will be put to practical use throughout this session, along with different aspects of communication.

Can we learn to enjoy our differences?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is widely used for understanding personality differences. These differences can lead to friction, misunderstanding and conflict.

Knowing your personality type can help you better understand the way you communicate and interact with others. In a multicultural setting like Luxembourg, special attention needs to be given to the cultural expression of different personality types. In fact, a better insight into the basic patterns of human behaviour can help with team building and staff development.

The presentation will focus on:

  • Introduction to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the concept of preferences
  • Examples of MBTI profiles - Any in the room?
  • How can it help us?
  • Making decisions together - Budget case
  • Cultural understanding
  • Can we learn to enjoy our differences?

The presentation is done in a relaxed and particpatory way.

Team and Individual Development

Issues most teams work on developing from time to time are: communication, conflict resolution, efficiency...Often groups or teams get stuck in the ways they talk together - meetings, coffee-breaks, dinner-talk ect.

New or slightly different ways of doing things can often encourage quiet people to say more (and they might have something very important to add) and make talkative people say less and and pay attention to the input of others.

During the presentation practical ways of getting everybody involved will be introduced

But teams are made up of individuals and it's good to know something about individual personalities as well...

Myers Briggs Personality Type profile (MBTI) is interesting because it works both for individuals and teams.

MBTI is an excellent tool in supporting personal development.

During the presentation we will start to look at personality differences among the individuals present in the room.

The presentation will focus on the following 2 questions:

  • What do teams need to develop?
  • What do individuals need to develop?

The presentation is done in a relaxed and particpatory way.
